Sustainability
We strongly believe that exploring the beauty of our region comes with a responsibility to protect it. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, and we’re committed to minimizing our environmental impact while supporting our local communities. From eco-friendly practices to promoting responsible tourism, we strive to ensure that our tours leave only footprints and lasting memories.
How We Practice Sustainability
Reducing Waste
We’re dedicated to reducing single-use plastics and waste wherever possible:
- All Roads to Sea team members use reusable water bottles and coffee mugs, helping to eliminate unnecessary plastic waste.
- We reuse 1lb coffee bean bags from our locally sourced Down East Coffee as garbage bags in our tour van, giving them a second life before disposal.
Eco-Friendly Cleaning Practices
Keeping our vehicles clean and safe for guests is important, but we do it responsibly. We use eco-friendly cleaning products to clean our van’s windows and interior, ensuring that our practices are kind to the environment.
Promoting Responsible Tourism
We encourage our guests to embrace the principles of sustainable travel:
- Take only photographs, leave only footprints: We remind our guests to enjoy the natural beauty of New Brunswick without disturbing its delicate ecosystems.
- Responsible wildlife viewing: We educate our guests on how to observe wildlife respectfully, avoiding activities that could harm animals or their habitats.
Supporting Local Communities
We’re proud to support the vibrant communities of New Brunswick by highlighting locally owned and operated businesses:
- Our tours feature locally owned services and products, giving guests a chance to experience authentic Maritime culture while supporting small businesses.
- We provide recommendations for locally owned restaurants, shops, and attractions that guests can visit after their tour, helping to boost the local economy.
Continuous Improvement
Sustainability and support for our area is an ongoing journey, and we’re committed to learning and growing:
- We actively pursue education and certifications that help us minimize negative impacts, contribute to the well-being of local communities, and promote a more sustainable tourism industry.
- We are Rainbow Registered as an 2SLGBTQI+ friendly business.
If you lived here...
... you'd want to protect it, too!
The beauty of New Brunswick is undeniable, but it’s not just about where we live – it’s about the shared responsibility we all have to protect the natural and cultural treasures of our planet. At Roads to Sea, we believe that preservation isn’t limited to one place or one community. Every corner of the world holds its own unique wonders, and together, we can ensure they endure for generations to come.By exploring responsibly, supporting local communities, and embracing sustainable practices, we can all play a part in safeguarding the places that inspire us, whether it’s here in New Brunswick or wherever your journey takes you.
